Benoît Menut, Micro Suite for cello solo

Benoît Menut's music does not refuse any stylistic encounter. He sees his art as "energy in sounds carried by meaning".
Benoît Menut is the winner of the 2016 SACEM Grand Prize for symphonic music - young composer category, the Natexis group Banque Populaire foundation (2008) and the SACEM prize from the Francis and Mica Salabert foundation (2014). He was resident at La Prée Abbey from 2007 to 2009 and was also composer in residence at the Brittany Symphonic Orchestra from 2014 to 2017. His first opera, Fando et Lis, was premiered at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne in 2018.

La musique de Benoît Menut ne se refuse aucune rencontre stylistique. Il conçoit son art comme « de l’énergie en sons portée par du sens ».
Cette œuvre, commande des Flâneries Musicales de Reims, fut écrite en juin 2009 et crée dans ce même festival, le 5 juillet 2009 par Ophélie Gaillard.
Composée de cinq courts mouvements, elle représente un hommage aux suites pour violoncelle seul de Jean-Sébastien Bach. Prélude, Bourrée, Menuet, Courante et Gigue (écrite pour Patrick Langot) se succèdent ainsi en un temps bref, comme des premiers jets d’œuvres à venir.
Patrick Langot enregistre la Micro-Suite pour violoncelle pour le CD PROMO des Grands Prix SACEM 2016. Cet EP paraît en 2023 chez le label EVIDENCE CLASSICS
